About
COUP’s inspiration is drawn from the way in which people, throughout history, have attempted to alter conventional thoughts and methods by enacting a coup d’état. We embrace the digital age as an online magazine which provides an investigative look into all things media, advertising, and public relations. We cater to those who enjoy quirky, alternative expression providing in-depth content that relates to them rather than sensationalist articles that promote commercial consumerism. Those who want to depart from the conventional and constantly evolve whilst pursuing a creative endeavour will find their niche with COUP.
COUP stays on the pulse of the way the media-, advertising-, marketing- and PR industries are advancing while bringing you up close and personal with those in the thick of things. We aim to push boundaries in both our design and editorial, keeping in mind the high aesthetic standards these industries demand.
Our Mission
We aim to push lateral and innovative thinking in both our design and editorial, as these are fundamental in these industries, aiming to be informative while catering to the creative tastes of our readers.
Our Vision
To be the media-, advertising-, marketing- and PR industries’ go-to magazine… sooner rather than later!

with much frustration. Mark Esterhuysen talks about his infamous rant;
we highlight the biggest (and most annoying mistakes) that PRs make and
chat to Kim Schulze about the public reviewing or ‘pseudo-critting’ movies.
COUP considers the extent to which having a voice online has spurred us on
to be more aggressive than we might be in person, especially on Twitter.
We let rip about really annoying ads that aren’t really failures. Columnists,
Lili Radloff, Andile Mngxitama and Ivo Vegter talk about stirring controversy.
And much, much more ...
